Participants in the study will need to follow study instructions, participate in study visits, and undergo specific medical tests.

 

What’s the medication and how long is the study treatment?

Up to 21 days.
Treatment: 28 days
Taper:10 days
Follow Up:
Up to 14 days

The study drug is rectal suppository. Each suppository is packaged with a disposable Sephure suppository applicator

Not all participants will receive the study drug. Some patients will receive placebo drug that looks like the study drug but contains no active ingredient.

What medical tests are included?

 
Men and women over the age of 18 are eligible to participate in this study.

Confirmed diagnosis of ulcerative colitis confined to the rectum at time of enrollment.

A test to examine the lining of the colon. A sigmoidoscopy is a test to examine the lowest portion of the colon.

An Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a test to evaluate your heart for possible signs of heart disease.
